Giving people a voice

Community Development

“Go to the people. Learn from them. Live with them. Start with what they know. Build with what they have. The best of leaders when the job is done, when the task is accomplished, the people will say we have done it ourselves.”

Lao Tzu

At Continuum CIC we believe Community Development has a key role in addressing the social inequality challenges faced by many of our local communities.

We offer support and development to local people and organisations so that they can take their organisations forward with a clear plan.

We support and offer learning so that local people and local groups feel able to make their own choices and decisions.

We encourage and support the strengthening of local people’s voices bringing local people together to share their experiences and learning.

We support the development of local community groups and encourage them to become involved in democratic processes to be part of discussions and influence decisions made.

How can Continuum bring communities together?

Being part of, and accepted in a community is as important to us as it is to you, which is why we offer a complete variety of support options.

  • Capacity Building within BME Voluntary & Community Organisations – mentoring, business and financial planning, training identification.
  • Working with community groups to test out the best way to get politicians attention. To see how community groups can win support for their work from local councillors by trying different approaches.
  • The development & delivery of training/facilitation sessions in neighbourhoods as part of “empowering residents to tackle Anti Social Behaviour".
  • Working with Partnerships to develop a local profile, a plan and training in respect of working together.

Community Benefits

It is key for local communities to be able to work together and develop their local community. They residents are the major beneficiary and therefore need to be heard at local and government level. Continuum can help you achieve this.
